Claims that Nostr is ‘dead’ mostly come from people measuring a protocol by the metrics of a centralized product. They see quiet kind-1 feeds, low mainstream engagement, and a Bitcoin-heavy user base, then declare the whole thing finished—without grasping that identity lives in keys, relays are replaceable infrastructure, and clients are interchangeable. When the real costs of servers, moderation, regulation, and liability finally surface on the platforms they currently treat as free public goods, many of those same people will show up looking for the know-how that already exists here.
