Do i have to self reflect to understand how to survive a harsh winter outside of civilized world?

Your example is an extreeme. Climbing mount Everest would make one much wiser in survivalism but not if they freeze to death. Introducing moderate discipline could motivate children unless you make them bleed every opportunity you get. Every person handles hardship differently.

Wisdom is about practical application of knowledge.

One could become a philosopher or just find out how to start a fire with pieces of wood to cook a meal. Both things could be considered wisdom depending on circumstances.

There is nothing like watching your kids grow. Nothing else makes sense.

Don't worry. You will be there soon enough.

Wisdom comes from hardship
