Terrible take. It was a small group of elites that led and benefitted from colonialism. And they were cruel to own people as well. They fenced off common land, impoverishing small farmers; then herded people into cities and exploited their labour during the industrial revolution; in WW1 and WW2 they turned British men into cannon fodder, and the Great Depression ruined many lives. My father was born on a farm in the North in 1935; nothing but hard work and hard times, but he is a good. moral human being.
