Important reminder

I’ve watched more of Charlie Kirk’s debates over the past 72 hours than the last year combined. What’s interesting is that I unfollowed him on socials a few months ago because of false information I read about him being “violent” and “hateful”. All I’ve seen over the past few days is this man willingly putting himself in rooms full of people who disagree with him, heckle him, tell him he’s unwelcome and a bad person. He met each person with kindness, calling them by name, and often thanking them for their courage to participate in debate - as he understands better than anyone that’s it’s not an easy role to play. More often than most think, these debates ended with smiles and progress toward mutual understanding. He chose this path because he believed that the only way to make progress is through open communication. Talking to each other. Attempting to see each other in our humanity. Being in the same room with people you disagree with. He often wove God’s word and strong family values into the conversation. It’s a bummer I have to disclaim this…but, no, of course I don’t agree with all of Charlie’s views. However, I believe in his heart and courage with everything in me. This has all been so perplexing, disorienting, and heartbreaking. I’m more convinced than ever about the evil of the media and the light of God’s word. Rest in peace Charlie. You didn’t deserve this.

Agree, with the exception of the world watching someone die on video. We’re not made for that

I can’t be the only one who feels like what we’re witnessing on the global stage is bigger than politics… right? A 31 year old guy woke up this morning and went to work.. to model our right to debate.. and never got to go home to kiss his wife or kids again. The world watched as he was assassinated. The outcome has been even more divisive, frankly terrifying rhetoric from so many American people. Some of which I’m close to. I can’t help but feel uneasy about what this means for humanity. The act itself. The lack of empathy. The divisiveness about how to respond to the loss of human life. Maybe I’m losing it (note: I’m not), but what we’re collectively experiencing feels spiritual to me. Good vs evil. Praying for Charlie Kirk, his wife and children, all those who watched him die for what he believes in, as well as the people responsible for his death. You don’t have to agree with any of these people to say a prayer for them, too. We have to come together as humans first. It’s the only way through.
