🇬🇧 The UK has no DAO-specific legislation, and DAO treasuries fall into a significant regulatory gap. $13.4 billion sits across DAO treasuries globally — and much of it is being mis-reported. This JBBA research presents a compelling case: ➡️ Recognising undistributed governance tokens as DAO assets at market value is not faithful representation. In plain terms — the numbers don’t add up, and current accounting frameworks weren’t built for this. 📍The questions regulators and standard-setters need to explore: → Are governance tokens actually “assets held” by the DAO? → Does the entity have a right to — and control over — the item? → Are treasuries being reported fairly, or inflated? These questions have real implications for investors, token holders, and policymakers.
