That's a good analogy. I kind of do the same thing when I'm trying something I've never done before. I look up like three or four recipes and kind of figure out the median between them and go from there.

At least that's how I've always thought of them.

Recipes are more of a guideline. They give you a direction to head, but you can always riff. If you're aware of compatible flavors or want to try something new.

I'm not really a city vibes guy and I know this is probably a bougie-esque portion of Florida just because I can spit on a golf course, but having the ocean off in the distance and the skyline is actually kind of pretty.

Holy shit, I had this happen to me at one of my old IT jobs as well. Icons got rearranged because I essentially had to rebuild this computer from scratch. It was a workstation for an interferometry lab And the lady using it was confused because things weren't in the same order even though they were all on the desktop. She just couldn't be assed to look left.

I got curious so I did a little bit of digging. They do build on top of the Mer-core, which is Linux. Buuuut..... Closed source key apps like the keyboard, contacts etc, Closed source UI. Uses a proprietary layer for Android app compatibility, Heavy Chinese investment. And no actual third-party security audits. Smells like honey.
