Living by example is the only way I like to influence people now. I have never recommended cold storage to anyone I know because I never wanted that responsibility. I also stopped recommending Bitcoin to people a while back, because I could not face them calling me up to say they’ve lost their savings because of an error, an exchange or a hardware wallet. I wouldn’t be able to handle it, I would be totally and utterly distraught. Freedom has a price. In my eyes, it’s up to each individual to decide whether they’re willing to learn, accept the responsibility, and pay for it. To the people that lost their Bitcoin. Tomorrow is a new day. To the people that work at Coinkite. I cannot fathom the weight you must be carrying. May this become a lesson that strengthens the entire ecosystem.

Trust is a shortcut that lets us function efficiently; most of the time it pays off, and then sometimes, sadly, it doesn’t. My heart sinks for those affected.

Trust takes years to build and seconds to break. Heartbroken for those who lost savings and ultimately their precious time. Devastating.

Absolutely brutal. Easy to say ‘learn from it’ when it isn’t your bitcoin. People have every right to be whatever it is they are feeling. I pray this becomes a lesson for them, rather than something that defines them. I would be completely devastated.

Ah yes, excellent point! I wasted too much time caring and being so sure about the wrong things. Children, I believe, are naturally open and curious, so nurturing it and protecting it is our responsibility. Being amazed by everything as well, is something I love in people. I guess what I’m saying is, I would like them to be able to recognise worthwhile work and when they encounter it, have the courage and discipline to commit to it.

Living on a working farm definitely helps!
