I did always think it was odd that coffee shops ask me if I want my drink hot or iced when it’s snowing and -18 C outside. I’m a hot coffee kind of guy in winter. Come to think of it. I’m a hot coffee kind of guy all year round. To each his own.
Some days I think maybe this place we all live is actually the place called Hell, which we all strive not to end up in for all eternity when we die.
Interesting. I didn’t know they had progressed that much to add Python. I had a 81 or 82 back in the day then my kids needed one and my old TI had screen issues so we ended up having to buy one new four or five years ago.
I’ve been vibe coding a GPS stabilized PTP grandmaster / NTP server solution on a BeagleBone Black. Some optimizations I made to it today brought down the standard deviation of the pulse per second signal to around 10 ns. I think that’s about as good as I’m going to be able to do with this hardware. It was a fun project that turns into being a rabbit hole about what defines time and the accuracy of it. Anyway, for my AES67 audio over IP work, this is more than fine to sync everything.
TI is still selling that calculator line and they don’t give them away. Talk about a cash cow.

I’m here!
True story. I have a range of kids from 6 to 22 and this is pretty accurate. The older ones, I’m pretty sure would be perfectly fine if I never talked to them again, at least until they get older and realize that I’m not full of shit all of the time and that there’s something to be said for experience. They’re not shy about telling my wife or me when we say something they don’t agree with about how we’re wrong. When those times happen, my wife and I look at each other and we know what the other is thinking. The 6 and 9 year-olds still think we’re awesome so we’ve got that going for us.. for now. :-)
Oops. That doesn’t fit the narrative very well, does it?
Merry Christmas to all!
Just went to a couple stores (Heinen’s and Costco) and said Merry Christmas to multiple employees as I interacted with them all. Nobody said anything back. Is this some new thing where companies are telling their employees not to respond to “Merry Christmas”?
I’ve done this and it has helped to unstick situations and find code errors that the first LLM made and didn’t catch. In these cases, I’ve been pitting Claude against Gemini. Both accounts are paid. I mostly use Claude Sonnet 4.5 and Gemini Pro. I’ve dabbled with Opus 4.5 and so far find it only marginally better than Sonnet 4.5. Opus costs 3x so I’m not seeing the strong drive to use Opus a lot yet.
I’m hanging out in Bitcoin even though metals are getting much of the love right now.
