If the election stuff isn’t taken care of then this country is cooked. I mean, it’s probably cooked anyway, but it seemed like this thing with Trump held things off a little longer. I voted for Trump. I don’t regret it. I still support him. I can sympathize with his position of trying to solve all the challenges of this country which is more than any one person can handle. It’s frankly amazing all the things he’s able to do. I need my 7 hours of sleep a night and periodic downtime throughout the day. He’s practically a machine. At the end of the day, though, we all need to figure out how we can support the values that this country was founded on and do what we can to help return this country to something worth keeping. I try to educate my kids as best I can about right and wrong, pitfalls and rewards in life, going the extra mile, etc. As far as the deep state goes, you’ll never eliminate them. They’re a bunch of chameleons. Half the deep state became MAGA at 12 Noon on Jan 20, 2025. They’re just trying to lay low to get past this “speed bump”. Plenty of the deep state and sympathizers still exist in the government, and I believe in Trump’s own cabinet. I don’t know. Politics didn’t interest me until the last 10 years, and interest probably is a word I shouldn’t use, but I do like to have the perception of knowing a little bit of what’s going on geopolitically. But then I think maybe this is all part of God’s plan for us. It seems like God isn’t a part of many peoples lives and maybe this is part of the wake up call. With all the election stealing in 2020 and even more stealing in 2024, how did Trump win? I think maybe a little bit of help from God. I try to look at all this as what is God trying to teach us. Maybe this AI stuff is meant to distract us all while the systematic dismantling of this country is happening out of view. My wife, earlier this afternoon after I was telling her some stuff about AI, said me to not let AI take the place of God. I didn’t tell her that I started my day with my conversation with God and then listened to some more Fr. Mike Catechism in a Year all before she woke up. She’s really fired up about AI and basically only sees death, doom, and gloom from it. I said to her earlier today to think of AI as a computer program that is a manager of a very large next generation database, but I also understand where she’s coming from. You’re going to get out of it what goes into it and if what goes into it are a bunch untruths and fakery then that’s what comes out the other end. I’m cautiously optimistic about AI. I kind of have to be because I’m in the server management, software development, and cybersecurity fields and would like to keep my job.

He did have some nice wins for a while, but I agree with you that it does seem like things aren’t progressing like promised.

We do have the tools to train models and create our own. Maybe we need a decentralized solution where we can all take small chunks of work and train a model then piece it together in the end. I’m interested in toying with expanding the knowledge of existing models, for instance updating the training of a smaller model and update Rust knowledge to current. But I suppose you’re talking about additional options and features available that might not be available in the open-source world. How could we create an open-source AI system? Self-host it for free, or pay us a monthly fee to use the system in the cloud.

I think you’re right. I’ve had my fair share of learning and being overwhelmed and it doesn’t show any signs of letting up.

If you’re interested in trains, there was a derailment in Toledo, Oregon a couple weeks ago on a train bridge over a river, and someone came out to do a nice narration and shoot some great footage of the derailment. This is only the first video in the series.. there are two others. Then it turns out the same rail line had another derailment a week and a half or so later, but in a different spot. I’m certifiably paranoid. A psychologist or someone like that told me so after being asked a bunch of questions. Initially, I was really annoyed at the diagnosis. But, soon after I decided that being paranoid isn’t a bad thing and then I wore that like a badge of honor. The question becomes am I too paranoid or not? She didn’t get into that.
