I can’t speak to the technical ins and outs of quantum computing and its threat to current cryptography. However, a lot of the fear about quantum computing possibly being the end of bitcoin is really just fear mongering to drive clicks. If the world doesn’t fully develop post quantum cryptology protocals bitcoin will be the least of our concern. Anything that relies on current encryption methods would be at vulnerable. I.E. bank access, all our passwords, communications, ect. I believe if we get to a point where quantum computers break current algorithms we will also have developed quantum cryptography methods.
