Anyone else having LND problems after upgrading to the newest StartOS version? My lightning node can't seem to update. I'm already getting customer support from Start9 but I'm just curious if this has happened to anyone else.

I agree to a certain level, but I don't think that would scale in the current world we live in (I don't think governments are going anywhere soon). Some level of trust is always required to live in civilization, for better or for worse. I have to to use fridges, cars, laptops, etc and I don't know exactly how they work or if they were tempered with by the state. I can maybe use older models to reduce that attack surface, but to break apart or build up every modern piece of equipment I use would be greatly counterproductive. I totally agree with your statement when applying it to the most important stuff, such as money and private communication. This is where my ignorance in tech shows up, I used Bolz over a tor browser and since it was non kyc, I just assumed that was enough for decent privacy. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I agree with you 100%, that's what BTC is to me. But, btc is code at the end of the day, and while hard to change, it's not impossible. If the culture rots and degrades over time, btc can definitely eventually turn into a data storage network. Not saying it will happen, but it can. The remedy to that, in my opinion, is exactly as you state. Decentralize everything.
