I took this picture this morning at Ramp 43. This shows you a little about how much sand moves during these storms. This post that is now only a few inches above the sand used to be 3 feet above the sand before the storms hit over the last few weeks. I screen shot this yesterday on NCDOT of the folks working on rebuilding the berm in the canal zone, here on Hatteras Island. I am not sure what the reasoning is to keep going when there is a few feet of water on the road and ocean just flowing. I can only imagine that it is trying to stay ahead of it. We are in the midst of a nor'easter storm here on Hatteras Island. I took my handheld weather station with me and mounted it on a weather vane I created and 3d printed. For anyone interested, I am doing a radio program on Radio Hatteras called the "Prog Rock Hour", which focuses on Progressive Rock music (you know: RUSH, Yes, old Genesis, King Krimson, Zappa, etc.).
