I seen "you'll own nothing" as a challenge lol, if you can't physically hold it you don't really own it I think.

Over the last 2 years I've bought over 1300 DVDs (and blue rays) and over 600 CD's. I've also got loads of retro games (from atari 2600 up to ps4) on cartridge and CD. I want to own my own medi., I've seen too many examples of things being edited, censored or banned, and I want to have the original. Plus, I don't have to deal with adverts, reduced quality, lack of internet or monthly charges. Most of the films and music I got came from charity shops for virtually free (some shops do 5 or 10 dvds for the equivalent of $1. Most people think I'm insane :) but they can go do face scans to listen to their favorite metal album on Spotify, I'll carry on doing my thing :)
Good morning nostr. I got rain, lots and lots and lots of rain...
And keeps happening :)
Interesting, you had me at "super cheap", i'll go investigate 😃
Indeed true :)
Space is a problem, I keep running out of walls to put shelves on :) I've started putting things in suitcases under the bed. Video games are extortionate, except ps3, xbox360 games, which are currently pretty cheap. I got lucky with mega drive/Genesis games when I found a stash of them in a charity shop for next to nothing a few years ago, unfortunately that only happened to me once, I think recently charity shops check everything on eBay to price stuff, so you sometimes see crazy prices on old rubbish because "it is on eBay for that much", sure but it probably never sold at that price. :)
What happened to youth culture? We had rockers, teddy boys, punks, hippies, new romantics, goths, hair metal, mods, hip hop, gunge, metal, britpop, nu-metal, new wave, etc etc... Every generation had a music and fashion identity, sometimes several, that set them apart. I feel that since around 2003 there hasn't really been anything new. Kids now just seem to regurgitate previous styles, everyone seems to have a generic indie/goth look, music is the worst I have ever heard, everything is either bland or ludicrously political and ideological. What happened?
I would love to have that too if I'm honest :)
Thanks :)
Last question :) how do I know how many zaps I have? How do I send them to other people? Thanks :)
I need to figure out the home server thing, I'll make it my next project :)
Zap zap... I am very new to this, but go zap me please :)
I seem to have ended up here by accident :). What is this place and what do I do? Help lol
Thanks 😁
So many spelling mistakes in that post lol, wish I could edit it :)
Yes that's the one :)
How the hell am I following 1022 people :O Must have been one of this lists I clicked "follow all" on :) I thought they were just 12 people each or something though :)
Thank you :)
Thanks, I want to do more, I download old tech and computer magazine scans and also artwork from the 50's and 60's, but I can't preserve the whole internet, much as I want to :) my hard drives are already begging for mercy.
I do that, all music goes to flac files. I haven't done the home media server thing yet, I need to figure that out but I have a really nice little player that has good sound and fits in my pocket :)
First tried this on a zx81 I'd borrowed from the local library, then on the c64. I dont think I ever got one to work properly :) just seeing that page gives me nightmares.
