I've only visited Seattle once but it was beautiful, for a city. Definitely felt the mood.

I've only visited Seattle once but it was beautiful, for a city. Definitely felt the mood.
Sad. It was inevitable but it's still sad.
๐ซ concurred, completely & totally.
๐ ugh. I love CC so much.
aquaticchickentheory.nostr1.com is my clean browsing space. It streams from cloudfodder's primus and nos lol, filters through my strict grapevine graph, and requires one or more of the 20 authorized hashtags. People can pay for write access there, but it's otherwise all automated. (It just went through relay.tools big migration today, so it's kind of stalled out for a bit.) I just wanted to type all that out because i think what we're doing there is really cool ๐
What's the need to fill?
๐คฃ yeah, right ๐
๐ it's probably a good one!
I have been intentionally vague because I don't have a clear plan. This community is just a small group of random people doing stuff and seeing what it becomes. So yes, arcana things ๐ Participation could be anything from just adding wss://spatia-arcana.com to your write relays to creating your own chat groups to helping curate browsable relay feeds to just coming by the existing chat groups and saying hello. Involvement is very flexible. (Igneous is Bliss aims to be a conglomerate chat of all things rock-related) That said, there are some member perks available, like a community-linked user address, a hellthread-safe inbox, and a limited blossom server for media hosting.
Ah, okay. Damus hasn't shifted to the outbox model afaik. That's partly why you'll be missing notes. It's looking on common relays. If you're on common relays, though, maybe the other parties are not writing to them, only reading from them. Primal uses their big caching server to collect all sort of stuff to show you, so you don't need to have relays in common when you're browsing there. They accomplish something similar to what outbox clients do, with a tradeoff of centralization to do it.
The only overhead is the pine needles that haven't fallen yet. ๐๐คฃ
It is! If you're interested in participating, just let me know. I can add you, and I'm happy to explain things, if you want or need.
Which client do you use where you notice the missing notes?
Yes! Put that on a label, in a cutesie font, stick it on a box, and sell em to the weekend yurt rental people on vrbo! ๐
Thanks.. I'm not sure I can point towards those specific topics, but shares some photography that's pretty good at stirring my inner philosophical tendencies.
You send notes to your public outboxes (write). You receive your replies & interactions to your public inboxes (read). Are the notes you only see in primal posted by other primal users, by chance? Or is there some common factor to them, like certain users who are missing?
He's making for good opportunities to explain the basics to people in the replies, who are confused ๐
I've been sucked into computer stuff lately, which i know nothing about. I'm enjoying learning. I've wanted to for a long time, but through it, my ego has been struggling to maintain a heartbeat. I feel like a complete moron, and too many hours of that in a week is bad for the soul. I had to take a few minute to do something with my hands. I looked at this pile of birch bark I've collected & remembered seeing fancy 'fire starters' made of random forest floor sweepings and wax, on etsy or somewhere like that, and thinking " wow, what a scam. I could do that". So I did. I gathered up some pine needles and juniper berries from my yard. I snipped up some birch bark and the grapefruit rind trimmings left over from my bergamot box experiment. I piled it all in little cups & poured beeswax over them. Bam! Fancy little fire starters for the outdoorsy cosplayers. They are cute & they smell incredible... but I don't think I have the heart to shove 6 of these in a box and charge $15 for them ๐

๐ 0xchat stresses me out. Can't explain it... but I think it uses the secure type, too. I higky recommend Amethyst as a training ground. It's not as easy to use as Primal but it does almost everything you could possibly imagine.
I notice. I also understand that people will act defensively in regards to the things that they care about. It's in our nature to do so. ๐ซ
All of these things are visible right on posts in the feed, in any client anyway. Your notifications are just a collection of events that tag you.... aside from the dm thing, which I already went over in my other reply ๐
๐คจ well, that is a fair and reasonable argument. I also know you have put a whole lot more thought into the subject of OTS than I have... or possibly anyone else has, for that matter. And you said please... all of those factors make that a hard request to deny.
I'll shut my autostamp off regardless and help reduce some noise, if nothing else. I was already thinking about it.
There are 2 types of direct messages. One is a spec that is (hopefully) being depreciated. Primal uses that one. Amethyst supports both the dying bad one and the better one. If you go into Amethyst, click my profile to send a mock dm, or send one, i don't mind... you'll see the little incognito man. You can switch back and forth between the message types. Active means they're more secure. Amethyst will automatically set the msg type, based on what type your recipient is using. If you do msg me, then go look on the npub sign in, you won't see the msg data. As far as everything else, nostr was designed to be censorship resistant above all else, so most things are public by default. You can utilize nostr in less public ways, once you get familiarized with choosing, setting up, and navigating relays. As with anything on the internet, there is no guarantee of privacy. The difference with nostr is that there is no 3rd party to mitigate these matters on your behalf. You are responsible for your freedom, your privacy, your content, what you view (and not), and what you choose to share.
It's campy, but it's almost fits the bill.
Wild Wild West? ๐
