i understand that but my point is that theres very little duplicated content vs the volume of it, doing on the fly analysis of content would be extra strain on the servers since they are already fetching things from relays (unless it exist in the cache) , also the use case is significantly different , you are showing long form content while my gateways serve all kinds of notes, using nip-66 in the backend to fetch those notes if they dont already exist

i'm happy to check out your anti spam setup but it wont help with gateways, theres very few patterns, most of traffic is residential ips with most frequently visited notes/profiles measured in 100s, yet they serve more than 6million requests per month

one of the servers running nostr.at/eu/ae njump gateways ran out of monthly traffic allowance (1.5TB) so expect some more timeouts in the next days (or zap heavily for more infrastructure :D)
