So, the weird and wonderful migration from a pure #linux desktop setup for development to a pure #android setup has now begun. A workflow developed over 30 years of daily driving linux needs to be revamped. A touch on the scary side but most things translated 1:1. Originally posted on 2025-07-21

Entire family together to this day. Amos was quite revolutionary and it had the dubious honor of being the only way to use basic on the #amiga without tearing your hair out. That said most of us stuck to c and assembly despite the 7mhz cpu allowing abstraction layers to be a thing. #retrocomputing Originally posted on 2025-06-28

It's my birthday so I'm feeling a bit sentimental. This was the demo tape that my grandfather used to introduce me to computers on his ABC80. A swedish made micro computer by Luxor AB featuring a Z80 cpu. It launched in 1978 and consistently sold until the mid 80s. #retrocomputing #z80 Originally posted on 2025-06-17

I'm certain most programmers aged 40 and up will recognize "Step by step programming commodore 64" by Phil Cornes. It was a seminal book for many of us. And then there's the section that inevitably made us all assembly programmers, or at least made us take our first baby steps down that route. Originally posted on 2025-06-06

Summer. Finally. First of may was beautiful, then the rest of may was an absolute dumpster fire. Then 31st rolled around and we're back to blue sky (appropriate) and a nice summer breeze. People's park in malmö, sweden. Originally posted 2025-06-02 Love the fact that I took the time to add the bluesky logo. I should edit it out and replace it with nostr but meh, this is an archived post.

Never have any idea what to type in "first post". So I'll just include a project photo of using the polaroid sticker printer to make nfc cards that will function as "floppies". Why? God knows, but it's fun and full of tactile goodness. Also a perfect excuse to dig into the WebNFC API. Originally posted on 2025-06-01

I've got zero followers here on nostr so I've decided to migrate my archive of social media posts over here. I only began using social media a few months ago during our summer vacation. I thought the advances in the fediverse had gone further than they really had. When I realized it was more of the same I just kind of stopped posting. With this I'll sunset my bluesky and mastodon accounts, nothing much lost there. But I think I'll keep my pixelfed account going since it's a bit different than nostr. Hope I don't trip some spam filter threshold in the nostr relays but it's less than 20 posts copied over by hand so I think it'll be alright. Famous last words..

Ok. I'm beginning to understand nostr. Going to pet myself on the back for a second. A while back I wrote a blog post about hoping we would get a sort of "bottle identity" that could be unplugged from each social media service and plugged into another. This is to prevent dictatorial mastodon server operators and corporate entities like bluesky. I didn't think it existed, yet nostr is exactly that. I was saddened that mastodon, most of the "fediverse" and particularly bluesky was just more of the same. Authoritarian top down power structures. To make matters worse most of the fediverse still doesn't have an export function. Your bottle is well and truly stuck once you pick a server. From what I can understand nostr allows me to run my own relay that nobody else has access to as a perpetual backup, then I'll also send my notes to other public relays. So as long as I don't piss off every single relay operator out there I can plug my "bottle identity" into any and all relays available to me and away we go.

I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing here.. but I suppose that is a large part of the charm.
