I’ve seen this a lot recently. The crux is narcissism. Having a conversation about stuff that’s bothering you and hearing what you don’t want to hear or getting some new perspective sounds useful. You can get that from friends and books. But the people I know who do the most therapy all have main character syndrome and sound like the couple in the bottom frame. In fact, I’ve stopped reading multiple books because the main characters start getting therapy but that’s a whole other rant.
