It’s a discipline for me to keep my heart childlike as my mind grows in wisdom and understanding. I loved the simply worldview of times past, but I don’t miss those days of ignorant slavery.

I’m not convinced y’all are different people, TBH. 🧐

We have a prayer routine every night with our kids that’s simple, repeatable, and lighthearted. Our prayer is: “Hey! Do you know that you’re made in the imagine of God? You have Jesus’ HEART (*place hand on heart and pulse it playfully*) that loves God and loves yourself, you have Jesus’ MIND (*place hand on forehead, rubbing temples slightly*) that’s being renewed in the wisdom and understanding of who He is, you have Jesus’ MOUTH (*point to lips*) that speaks the truth in love, You have Jesus’ TOES (*grab/tickle toes*) that carry the good news to the poor -my daughter always says “oh and the other toes” and puts up her other foot- And Jesus’ EARS (*gently squish the ears playfully*) that hear and know the Father’s voice, And Jesus’ EYES that see the work of the Spirit all around. Hey, I love you and I’m so proud of you. And I’m so thankful to be your daddy/mommy.” We don’t hit every body part every day, but we make sure to hit at least a couple. We even have sayings for hair, elbow, knees, booty, arms, belly, chin, cheek, eyebrows, tongue -all of it. It works for us, and that’s the key. Most nights we’ll have extra time to recount our day and pray for the things we remember, but no matter what we always end with that.

gm, my friends. I went to Trader Joe’s yesterday and had the most unexpected moment with one of the workers. I opened conversation with the kind old lady at the checkout counter, and she was so interesting. She shared about her love of vinyl music, how her father passed away when she was 14 y/o, and how he had a record collection that would blow your mind. She let those records go at the time of her father’s passing, but she’s been slowly building herself a collection of records in recent years. The list of artists she listened to was unending. And she also took to musical albums, symphonies, and old comedies and talk radio vinyls as well. At the end of being checked out, her and I both woke up to the reality that we were at TJs…and simply smiled at eachother -wishing eachother well on whatever life has for us beyond that moment.

What a trip. These were awesome

gm 🌞 something so unexpected and awesome happened last night that all I can do this morning is be thankful. A night for the ages, to start the 6-month clock, which precedes the one-year hammer, And commissions an even greater love. I’ll remember last night forever.

I’ve seen a video of a dad putting 4 kids in one, then mounting four bikes on the outside using a custom frame. My interest in these have skyrocketed since that video
