Something about anonymity that allows the worst of us to rise. But yet, in an online space you should still be free to be anonymous. Now that AI bots are showing up I’m not sure how this goes. Feels like we are entering Plato’s cave as our reality gets warped digitally (keeping the Greek Philosopher trend alive). There are other issues, but that seems to be a big one in my mind.

Don’t believe that at all. If true, they wouldn’t have raised all these needy dependent kids. Who then raised even more needy dependent kids. Plus, they wouldn’t vote for all of these awful candidates and believe all forms of media in the 80’s, 90’s, 00’s. There is no good generation of emotional stability. We’re all flawed. The key is…is there a generation that is less flawed that is actually capable of doing something?

I haven’t. Don’t trust myself to set up something that can do its own thing on my hardware. I’m sure I could figure it out. What are the primary use cases you have found to be most useful? Because for me, I’d want to explore ways to either automate some of my work or to do research on topics. Also, I don’t need specifics - but it also seems like it’d be expensive going through Claude or GPT. So I’m curious general costs. I prefer Claude to GPT but I know the best is local if possible. Which I doubt I have the hardware for.

I’m a certified idiot. How can global debt be $107 trillion? What does that even mean and who does the global population / governments owe their money to? Because from a zoomed out lens it sounds stupid. So I need details.

Completely agree. The only thing I’ll say is that 99% of humans have been conditioned to think a specific way. So if it all disappears rapidly our ability to adapt quickly to economic change in mass has historically not been great. IMO the current result will be a lot more tik toks and podcasters before something meaningful arises because we haven’t been challenged in that way in awhile. And/Or more people will reach their hand out. Then political power has incentive to cater to them. So while it’d be nice if people were independent - we should also be willing to help people find their way. If we don’t I think the results could be far worse.

It was insane. He would just be near the front the entire time. Then at the end you’d blink and he was at the top of the hill while everyone else was still at the bottom. Never seen anything like it.

I don’t pay attention to the world anymore. What happened?
