Ny original ambition was to support tipping/payments similar to zapping, based on BCH. To try to get network effects going I first went with something that works with all Nostr clients. But that was necessarily custodial. Even a few vocal BCH community members did not like that. And maxis mislike most things that wants to challenge BTC or Lightning. Since my original work, a skilled BCH dev figured out the necessary details to allow payment to addresses generated based on raw Nostr hashes and keys, which makes it possible to support payments to all Nostr users, regardless of clients. That mostly leaves the issue of payments never getting picked up from non BCH users. Which can be solved with signalling from the Nostr profile or similar. So things are looking better. I tried looking up Nostr usage recently, but nostr.band or whatever had been down. Any new sites tracking Nostr pickup?
