Perhaps I am assuming and I really shouldn't be doing that. My apologies. Let me ask then, how do you define "identity politics" in this case? I'm probably operating from a different understanding of that term so let's get on the same page there first. I don't want to make assumptions of your knowledge on this.

So if this were actually true about populations then we wouldn't be seeing a collapse of various ethnically homogeneous groups around the planet. Japan, Poland and South Korea aren't particularly friendly to mass immigration and culturally view imports as permanent outsiders resulting in a high degree of homogeneity among the population. You're telling me all these countries are seeing collapsing populations, simply because they hold some form of moral system above the survival of their ethnic groups? Sorry but I think it's more complicated than that and I really don't think you've proven anything other than you're a one-track thinker.

In Canada, it costs $10k to get your license.

I don't know what the differences between trucking in the US and trucking in Canada, so just putting that out there up front. Everything I'm saying applies to Canadian trucking. If you're single it can be worth it. Long-haul trucking is more lucrative than short-haul but you're gone from your home for a long time. No attachments is the best way to go. In Canada, the insurance makes it very difficult to get into unless you have a business willing to sponsor you. I'm assuming it's different in the US. My understanding is that as a trucker, you take on the liability of your load. Both the sender and receiver put any loss that may occur onto you. Again, that might only apply in Canada and it might not be universal. I also hear about a lot of shenanigans going on with the logbook to try to maximize one's upside but the digital ones they've got now make that almost impossible. That's about all I know at the moment.
