Aspects of the mechanical age we're leaving behind made propaganda particularly effective: Print culture narrows perception and emphasizes rationalism. Linear media mimic logical structure and seem trustworthy. Detachment from immediate, oral experience makes abstract deception easier. Belief in being "above propaganda" makes westerners vulnerable.
