I already broadcast recipes and Nourish profiles to my relay, and I don’t charge for it. I’ve offered 5,000 sats for recipes, free AI uploads, cookbook PDFs, and tried all sorts of A/B tests. Getting people to change their habits is hard. I love the idea of bringing in a smaller group of high quality people, and I want to get there. I appreciate you opening my mind to it. I do think it’s the right direction, we just need to get the timing right.

Relay discovery is still a challenge. I’m deep in Nostr, and even I don’t know which relays are best or why I should use one over another. That needs to be simpler. I hear you, I feel your frustration, and I want to make this work, but Nostr isn’t there yet. Getting to 1,000 users per client might be a start. Right now, though, we’re a small bar with nobody inside. I agree the feature has value, but people need content to discover and a reason to spend time here when X and TikTok already have so much to explore.

Discovery of content. We use hard and soft words along with # curate food feed across nostr. Custom relay with only zap cooking users writing would give us 10 users maybe writing to the relay.

I certainly get this and agree, but setting up with no discovery is also a problem.

Just in time for our iOS review, spammers like @ytmeta4 are getting through Zap Cooking’s curation by posting YouTube videos with food-related words. Deeply frustrating, but it’s showing us where we need to improve. Tools like Brainstorm are helpful, but when an account is new, it takes time for community signals to build a fuller picture. We need to catch this faster. I’m going to take action to improve the discovery feed, and I want the community’s feedback on how we do it. Maybe repeated mutes, blocks, or spam reports temporarily take an account out of discovery and trigger a review. We’d need safeguards so a few people couldn’t abuse that. Free speech matters. So does the freedom to decide what gets attention in the spaces we build. If you walk into a room and start yelling over everyone, people stop listening. Why should spam get a free pass here? How would you handle it? What signals would you trust?
