Both basically claim to be “self custody” for legal purposes and so far it’s held up, especially for Liquid which held even under Biden. Cashu tokens, again from a legal perspective only, can be argued as roughly similar as unless the operator rugs only the holder can use ecash and redeem for BTC. Another example: how is it that different from the KYC lite Primal Wallet which is fully custodial and all you need is an email and birthday iirc? Signal already has at least as much personal info if not more so with a phone number as I would guess almost all people sign up with a traditional KYC cell number. Signal could also rate limit Lightning withdrawals to say $25 a day to avoid large amounts similar to Primal except in ecash you can’t limit the amount by holder. Signal also explicitly saves and chooses to never delete your phone number so they also already have a persistent lite KYC model, even if they don’t admit it.
