You're absolutely right!

Like you did, by asking, is a great start. As others have mentioned, the Bible is the best place to continue your journey. It is the foundation and source of truth, morals, and principles. It's also how you verify what is said and taught by others. At the beginning I wouldn't worry too much about which version, there are whole debates about that. Just pick a respectable one, and in time keep comparing them and do research, but don't let the translation keep you from reading it. Read all of it and dig into it and pay attention to context. And find out who Jesus is. Pray and humbly seek God. Connect with others on their journey, we can challenge each other's beliefs and answer questions, and hopefully all grow in the process. Check out your local meetups (churches), basic check are they loving people and seeking God and His will? (Greatest commandments) There are countless resources to help, and some have already been mentioned, so I don't want to overwhelm you. If I/we can help, please ask.
