re: the concept of "standard" odd, that word. I can drive a "standard". except that they aren't (much), anymore. we have "standards organizations" because we know that standards aren't fixed and whatever we needed, at one point, we will need to evolve a new "standard", as the evolves. otoh, #TheFact that there will ever only be 21 million bitcoins is not a "standard" in the normal sense. it just our single-most important Fact about why bitcoin is magic. it is precisely because we have that immutable total that bitcoin works. let's celebrate #TheFact and just let the confusing jargon'y notion of sats "melt away... clinging to "sats is the standard" pov sounds, to me, like scared fiat-blather.

a compromise? yes, please, use the lovely btc-symbol (which I don't have, here, yet) and yes, lose all those confusing leading .0000's... and when you have a need to name a small fractional quantity of one of those magical, only-ever-gonna-be 21-miillion bitcoins, consider using our already-known, normal everyday word for _any_ currency's subunits: coins please do not confuse our newly-incoming btc muggles! as would happen, imo, if we all go with using the core, well-known "big unit' 's name (bitcoin, but plural'd: bitcoins) for the fractional subunits too. they're just coins. the spending-units of our future (but really, already-now) universal currency: bitcoin. please, don't make it harder than it needs to be. muggles aren't fascinated by the behind the scene tech magic, they just want to buy stuff with their money. help them...
