Wow that was an awesome quote / metaphor at 1:11:11 by - “The mainstream institutions are like a tree in a forest just before it falls down. It’s already dead and rotten, it just hasn’t fallen down yet”. https://youtu.be/tIVriDqKsFA?si=aLZIXq4xEER293H7
quick question on the premium account: does the monthly option auto-renew?
Agree, its crazy. But to build your own SaaS business (or for other small business owners), you should only need to focus on your favourite language's stack and not have to use the fancy frontend framework of the day. So my preferred stack for shipping quickly is Python Django/Flask, HTMX for nice async UX and vanilla CSS or Bootstrap.
Ah my bad, didn’t realise you can generate a new lightning invoice in the Primal wallet with the Add Details button
It seems to me that Coinbase is doing a “soft” boycott of the lightning network by not supporting email-style lightning addresses and only allowing extremely long and cumbersome lightning invoices.
Micro-payments like Zaps on a legacy social media platform with fiat would be impossible as most companies use Stripe and every transaction costs $0.3 minimum in fees. Medium (writing platform) for example integrates with Stripe and will only pay out once you receive a minimum of $10 in revenue share (which is quite hard to do)
The main hurdles for non-techie users will be a password manager and setting up a non-Coinbase Bitcoin lightning wallet.
Sorry guys but the onboarding process with Alby is terrible and confusing. I would advise new users to avoid using Alby entirely.
Figured this out now - only seems to work for the built-in wallet on Primal mobile, the web version doesn’t seem allow you to setup the built-in wallet or an external wallet for sending zaps.
Seeing this Netscape graphic gave me crazy nostalgia. Hope Nostr can usher in a similar revolution as Netscape once did.
This is one of my best performing Twitter posts from back in the day with over 3,800 likes, If this had been on Nostr with zaps and 3,000 of these people tipped me 20 cents on average, this would have made $600. That's money that could have gone to Palestine - since this was a post for the Palestinian cause.. If 100 activists created posts with same engagement, that's now $60,000. Now imagine 1000: $600,000 This is the power of a mass movement micro-fundraising network. This is the power of the people and how we win.
Fair enough, thanks Paul.
Also tried to zap you, but got a message saying user hasn't setup lightning address yet. is this because the user hasn't added a lightning address in their profile, or the "connected wallet" in settings hasn't been setup yet? Thanks!
It's usually ok to keep small helpers near the route, but when that code gets larger or is reusable “business logic”, it should probably live in a separate file.
Hi Matt, just tried to zap you but it says you haven't setup your lightning wallet yet, let me know if you need a hand. It's pretty simple in the end, but the easiest way is doing everything on mobile.
