We never experienced any issues, at least the way I had it set up.

Human beings are mostly morons. You can’t fix that.

I understood that. My disagreement wasn’t with the word “surprise.” It was with the implication that the divorce can be explained primarily by the husband’s i. Relationships are usually more complex than a single-cause explanation. Been there, done that.

That’s not really how divorce works.. It rarely comes out of nowhere. In many cases, problems build up over time, and both people contribute in some way. The idea that divorce is always some sudden surprise is a super oversimplification.
