Faith was never meant to be Christianity according to our own terms. Christ did not call us to find the easiest path, remove what challenges us, and then declare that path to be His. He called us to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him. The truth does not change because it is difficult, inconvenient, or demands something of us. We are called to conform ourselves to God, not to conform God to ourselves. There are no shortcuts to holiness, and we do not get to remake the faith according to our own desires simply because the road Christ gave us is harder to walk.
