Kind of goes to the nature of "ownership"... Bitcoin is fundamentally novel because it transfers ownership from a socio-political concept, to math and neurons. The latter concept is a "stronger" form of ownership for sure, by orders of magnitude... But it's not absolute. Nothing is. It requires energy and constant vigilance to defend.

I think we're in a kind of "80's" moment culturally... Young people, having grown up on a steady diet of crypto-socialist envrionmental and economic apocalypticism, are implicitly or explicitly just trying to "get theirs" before the "inevitable" collapse... you know, to avoid "permanent underclass" they believe is inevitable. Boomers in contrast have retreated to the financial and physical security of their single-family homes (ironically purchased in the 80's), safely ensconced. Millennials are perhaps the only people left who actually believe they have a shot at making the world a better place, but the first few decades of the century have shaken a lot of resolve in this....
