🚨 New in DATUM v0.4.0: 🔀 Username Modifiers — Share your mining rewards between multiple Bitcoin addresses, directly in the Gateway. No miner firmware changes needed. Perfect for revenue share setups. Some miners operate in revenue-sharing setups with partners, teams, or services. But most ASICs don't support multi-address payouts. DATUM Gateway now does. 💡 With username modifiers, you can split shares by hash across addresses. 🧩 Example config in datum_gateway_config.json: "username_modifiers": { "team1": { "bc1q...A": 0.2, "": 0.8 }, "donation": { "bc1q...B": 0.01, "bc1q...C": 0.99 } } "" means: use the address from your miner's Stratum username. 🧑‍🏭 Usage: Set your miner’s username like this: bc1qYourAddr.worker~team1 DATUM will: Send 20% of shares as bc1q...A.worker Send 80% as bc1qYourAddr.worker (address from your miner's Stratum username.) Simple. Powerful. Fully transparent. 🔒 Requirement: Make sure this is enabled in your config: "pool_pass_full_users": true Without this, the Gateway won’t handle full usernames (and modifiers won’t work).

📡 Running DATUM: A Return to Decentralized Bitcoin Mining Built a self-hosted DATUM + Bitcoin Knots setup: 🔧 Hardware: Switched from Pi 5 (SD card bottleneck) to NVMe mini-PC 🌐 Node: Full sync via Bitcoin Knots 📦 Block templates built locally ⚡️ Hashing with Bitaxe + Avalon Nano 👨‍🏫 Bonus: Using it to teach Bitcoin mining to students! 🧠 Lessons learned: • SD cards are a bottleneck — use SSD/NVMe • blocknotify is critical to avoid stale work • CPU freq tuning helps with template speed • DATUM needs txindex=1 and full mempool DATUM lets you mine your own blocks — solo or pooled — with full transparency + template control. 💡 Feels like mining the way Bitcoin intended.
