You're likely thinking of something like an FPS/RTS hybrid, there have been attempts but those have been multiplayer. With modern engines and hardware it's certainly possible to get it done and I'd be very interested in that sort of thing too. Really the only tricky thing would be balance, I could easily see some kind of sci-fi sim being like that where you've got ship boarding and planetary combat among other things. DEI devs only care about pumping a live service scam out as fast as possible so it's down to indies to try out stuff like that and see if it sticks, I can see the potential.

Just caught Asmongold in fucking 4k on his recommended sidebar and I knew I recognised all of the music he's playing in the background. As suspected he's just grabbing music from big titles to sound atmospheric, I know they all mostly do it but it's hilarious how blatant it is and that they probably haven't played any of these games.

Something I've been thinking about deeply in relation to my own work in the UK with the online safety bill being put into action. I don't think it's viable to make video games here anymore in the slightest, or for that matter any kind of remotely 'controversial' media. Want boobs and violence in stuff? They'll claim it's misogyny or it's porn and shut you down, I can feel it. It's all because the devs are going to have to comply whether they want to or not which is why I'm seriously considering Asia generally as a place to go to for my work because they won't give a fuck.
