That’s kinda my point. The Constitution was a representation of what Americans already mostly agreed upon. It was not the strategy set forth by leaders.

Culture eats strategy for breakfast. I usually use this to talk about workplaces, but I think it applies to general human behavior. The constitution is a document that described the cultural values of America in that time. I fear the cultural shift has been the water warming for the frog, and we’re just now realizing the depths to which we’ve fallen. We don’t have that culture today, so the constitution is a husk of a civilization that once existed.
